Often people talk about ‘positive thinking’ and
boast that it can fetch you success. But, it is not true more often. You might
have come across sayings like: ‘nothing is impossible you can achieve anything
and everything’; ‘the word impossible can be found only in the dictionary of
fools’ and the like. Do you think: anyone can do anything in the world? Nay –
it is not the reality. The potential of a man is limited and with limited
potentials how is it possible to do anything? It is true that certain people
can do certain things and NOT all things in the world and NO one can do all
things for sure. A bird can’t reach the Moon, a lion can’t fly like a bird, a
fish can’t walk on the land, they have their own limitations and we the human beings
too have our own limitations.
In the process of evolution each individual has
attained to maturity in certain perspective and in that perspective that
individual can perform better compared to others. But, it doesn’t imply that he
or she can do better in everything in the world. For example, the famous
scientist Albert Einstein, although famous in the field of science – he can’t
compete with the famous poet, William Wordsworth and the opposite is also true.
So, the sayings like “you can achieve anything if you work hard” are
meaningless expect to fill confidence in the individuals.
People are often mislead by the sayings like;
‘nothing is impossible to you’. There are limitations to everything in the world
and so to the human potential too but, it is true that each person has certain
potential and can perform better in a limited domain.
This is where the ‘realistic thinking’ comes
into play. No doubt that ‘negative thinking’ ruins our lives but, ‘positive
thinking’ too can ruin you if you ‘over estimate’ yourself. But, ‘realistic
thinking’ can fetch you success and happiness without fail but, it is not EASY.
Man is complex. The ‘ego’ of an individual will
often make the ‘thinking process’ erroneous. We often underestimate or
overestimate our potential due to the functioning of the ego. This is why ‘realistic
thinking’ turns out to be more difficult.
The key to success and happiness is ‘realistic
thinking’ and it requires estimating the situation and your potential properly.
But, ‘egoistic’ people often ‘overestimate’ their potential and people of ‘inferiority
complex’ often under estimate their potential and naturally their decisions go
wrong hence, they get into troubles often.
In some cases, although the individual has no
‘ego’ problem the subject might fail to estimate their potential or the
situation or both properly. So, they might fail while making the decisions and
naturally will beget problems and consequently suffer in life.
‘Realistic thinking’ – not only is applicable
to the ‘work’ you do but, also to the ‘talks’ you make with other people. If you
could talk ‘estimating well’ your audience you will not fetch any problems and
this applies while you are with your friends or family or in work too.
A person who is good at ‘realistic thinking’ will
succeed in all walks of life but, unfortunately it is not easy as it requires ‘sound
judgment’ and only people of keen intellect only can do this. But, anyone can
try this and can maximize their ‘success rate’ and happiness as well.
